Founder - Inventor 1888 - 1892 Albert Winkley had a revolutionary idea when he invented the Slip Socket prosthesis. It changed the way artificial limb makers approached their craft and set a new standard of comfort for the times. In the early days, all parts were hand made by the shop workers. The joints, feet and leather parts were all made on site. We owned tree farms to grow willow trees that provided the raw material for limb fabrication.
Founder & President 1892 - 1938 Lowell Jepson brought marketing expertise in 1888 in the age of pamphleteering and printed media. These were used for advertising to prospective patients and to contrast Winkley’s services with the competition.
President 1983 - 2017 Office electronics were still developing when Greg took over the Company in 1985. Fax machines were introduced and several levels of computers were tried. Through the next three decades the computers evolved from tape and hard discs to floppy discs to the Cloud; hard wired to wireless and hand held.

Since 1888, people from around the world have come to Winkley for prosthetic and orthotic care. Five generations later, we're still family-owned and still guided by the same commitment to innovation and quality our founders started with.
Our certified prosthetists and orthotists work with each patient's physician and care team to evaluate, design and custom-fit prosthetics and orthotics. We pair the latest digital technology with our own in-house fabrication, so every device is built for the person who wears it. We take that responsibility personally, and it shows in the competent, caring service we provide.
Today, Winkley is the largest privately owned orthotic and prosthetic provider in the region, with six locations in Minnesota and two in Wisconsin.
