“Men anpil chay pa lou.” ( Many hands make the load lighter) Haitian proverb

Winkley Orthotics and Prosthetics continues their sponsorship of three employees to provide rehabilitation care in Haiti. Each year, employees Al Ingersoll, Terry Kufner and Mark Kroll travel to Haiti and provide Orthotic and Prosthetic services to physically disabled people in the western hemispheres poorest Country.

The focus of their trip has changed to a great degree since it began in 2001. At first, the main objective was to provide direct services by fitting and fabricating devices from whatever materials they could get there hands on. Now, the focus has shifted to educating the Haitian technical staff so they can better serve the disabled Haitian community.

A portion of this education started during the summer of 2004 at the Minnesota and Wisconsin offices of Winkley. Flavienne Coriolan, a Haitian Orthotist, spent over 2 months training in the U.S. under the direct supervision of Winkley’s staff. Winkley employees opened their hearts and homes to Flavienne. It was a learning experience for everyone.

In Winkley’s small way, we continue to help “make the load lighter”
